Any secret geeks that is already excited on The Avengers: Age of Ultron movie release, please raise your hand! (Raises hand).
Since me and my nephews and nieces were already hyped with the Avengers, I was inspired to create an article about them (of course it should be related to marketing). I hope that you enjoy reading this article!
Imagine if you have a business that deals with superheroes. Think of the scenarios where you have to talk to Superman, Spiderman or even Wolverine about selling your brand's products and services. How about if they have certain queries and you need to adapt to their characteristics and nature, can you still keep up with them.
Today, we'll be discussing the Avengers and re-imagine them as their customers. Yep, you will have to deal with Black Widow, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and the mighty Hulk. As business owners, do you know how to deal each of them?
Black Widow a.k.a the Silent but Deadly Customer – You know that she knows
everything that you know in your niche. This type of customers will just nod at everything that you say to them. But we wary since Black Widow type of customers knows what she wants and will not give a second break to you as a seller.
How to deal with her – Don't be intimidated by her. Keep your confidence up and show that you can deal with that kind of intimidation. Little do some business owners know that this kind of customer has a soft spot inside, so treat her nicely, too.
Iron Man a.k.a "I'll Just Buy Everything" Customer – Just like the uber rich Tony Stark, you'll encounter customers that don't really think of your offers. They'll just agree with everything and purchase them without hesitation. For first timers, you'll definitely love this customer. But for others, you need to know how to deal with them expertly.
How to deal with him – Instead of going with his foolish flow, only suggest which products and services would fit him/her best. Don't always take advantage of these people since they can actually realize their wrong decision on the latter part, and they might get back to you. If you've given them a great purchasing advice, they'll eventually patronize you more.
Thor a.k.a Out of this World Customer – Since he wasn't a mortal like us, he
needed full guidance about EVERYTHING. He's the newbie of your product and he wants you to tell him everything from the basics. What's more irritating is that he will sometimes include some weird exclamations about your product.
How to deal with him – Relax, Jimmy! You just need to educate him about your products. Tell them exactly the basics and ask them slowly if they clearly understand your brand. Once they're satisfied with your introduction and mentorship, they'll buy your product ASAP.
Captain America a.k.a the Golden Customer – Admit it, Captain America was the oldest person in the team (disregarding Thor since he is a God). He's been through the Golden years and before you know it, he'd start talking about being a veteran and a war junkie. If Captain America looked exactly what his age is, he would be a very old person asking for complete guidance or a louder ear speaking (say what young man? What do you mean by pop-unders?). Of course, you need to be considerate with these customers.
How to deal with him – Ask if there are younger people around who could help you and them communicate better. Just like Thors, you need to explain everything carefully. You should also respect them since they're already seniors of our world. Don't worry, this kind of customers are easily converted to sales once you meet their wants and needs.
Hawkeye a.k.a Hawkeyed for Details Customer – If you have a customer who
always repeats itself every time he or you talks, he's considered as Hawkeye. He's into clear details, and he's serious about it. He will always ask questions to make things clearer than a sunny day. It will come to a point that you will be seriously annoyed with his repetitive questions that you've already answered for 5-6 times.
How to deal with him – Patience is a must with these customers, if you ask me. Instead of getting irritated, just make sure your instructions are already bright as the day. Learn to make brief comments so that your customer could understand the information faster.
The Hulk a.k.a the Typical Aaaaangry Customer – Of course, Hulk's your typical customer who's always angry. He'll be angry at you for no good reason. You can
easily fix his problem or even answer his numerous queries, but he'll keep on growling and cursing. And if only he could turn his anger into physical form to hurt you, you'll quickly call your medical insurance company.
How to deal with him – Don't you ever try to take on a fight with him. Keep calm and they will keep calm eventually. By the end of your conversation, he'll soon realize that he should have not entered such state and instead listen to you carefully.
Now let me ask you this, how will you handle Nick Fury :)? Share your answer on the comment page!
